Culture Now! CD Cover

Culture Now!
“Culture Now” is based on original music authored by Garry Baverstock. Inspired by friendships with Aboriginal people in the Pilbara region, a fusion of folk, rock and jazz styles were used to express a cultural message to both white and indigenous people.

Empathy with the Yinjibardni, Ngarluma and Gurama elders and their desire to pass their culture to their young people, as well as educate white people, was the driving force behind the concept for this album. Garry’s vision was a goal of reconciliation through a substantial project. It made sense to have Aboriginal artists and performers involved with Anugaia to express an authentic message.

Four years of recording, editing and production work with joint venture (J.V.) partner, “Maestro” Matthew Fogarty, enabled Anugaia to finalize the work with artistry and professionalism.

Culture Now!, the long-awaited debut album by Anugaia, was released in September 2005.
